And I just generally want to know what you guys think.
Although it doesn't look it I had fun playing We where the last band on and our (small) set order was:
Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix
What I've Done - Linkin Park
Nemo - Nightwish
Breakout - Foo Fighters
Duke Nukem - Megadeth
Purple Haze: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZCDq...e=channel_page
Any feed back would be appreciated, I will accept critism.
Thanks guys.
Mark.

Woulda sounded better if everything was running thru a PA system with the vocals. And if everything was, then the guitar and drums need to be turned up quite a bit and bass just a bit. This is my opinion. I don't claim to have a huge knowledge of all that kinda stuff but i know enough of how to properly set everything up and get it running, which like i said, isn't much. But you've got talent, that's for sure. I like the Hendrix twist with the female singer.

Any criticism would probably be related to the overall sound and you may not have had any control over that. Everybody in your band seems pretty talented and that was a good take. Keep up the good work!

Dood, are you like 12?

Hey, Thanks. We didn't get to choose for us it was either amps are nothing (excpet vox, bass drum and snare which went through a PA). Think of getting a D.I. for my recording class (cause the D.I. they have is awful) so I might be aloud through the PA next time. Quote:

The only realistic suggestion I have is that you and the guitarist should be on opposite sides of the stage. It seems he was all up in YOUR space. Other than that good job, keep on rockin.

My only concern would have to do with that choice of cover. The only more ambitious cover I can think of offhand is "Little Wing". IMHO, some songs, no one else can do justice to, no matter who they are. (Exh. A: Sting's "Little Wing".)
King's X does a Manic Depression that blows me away. That's an exception that proves the rule though, I think.
I know that many people would disagree with me. Right now all over the world bands are covering Purple Haze and Freebird and Smells Like Teen Spirit and Redemption Song and Born to Run and Stairway to Heaven and all kinds of songs people basically consider holy. I would suggest though that many of those bands might be better off covering, say, Negative Creep, or Crosstown Traffic, or Kinky Reggae, or Dancing Days, because those songs have all the mojo without the impossible-to-live-up-to factor.
My $0.02. Sorry so wordy. Best of luck to you!

--Bomb | Hey, I hear where you coming from, it was the guitarist choice and I foudn it pretty fun to play. We was also going to do Tommy the Cat with the Pink Panther in E for the bass solo, but we got told to drop it by our teacher. The theme for our next set is Funk, Soul, Blues and Jazz so

| | | | The bassist looks sleepy, bored or not enjoying it all too much on the youtube vid.
I agree that guit and bass may want to think about not standing on the same side.
There seemed to be little interaction ( communication) between the players with each playing in their own little world.
Purple haze is also one of those "signature tunes" that I would think twice about covering.
It is hard to pull off convincingly and I guess confidence is very important when doing it.
All in the vid know their parts and play them well...it just lacks "Oohmpf"
Good luck

Good luck | Like I said earlier, we had another guitarist stood on the other side in other songs so that space was taken. We did communicate quite abit just in a subtle way.
It's not that I was sleepy, bored, etc cause this was one of the songs I was most looking forward to play, I just genreally get quite nervous/fearfull when playing infront of family (My mum and her boyfriend where filming), a result of years of torment and terrorizing by old sisters, not fun, if familys not there I do move more.
I'd have to say that the best song was Duke Nukem, even if the other guitarist (the one not playing purple Haze) did rip off the 'One' solo by Metallica.
