Halloween gig costume plans?

Sign in to disble this ad
So who all is playing a gig on Halloween? Are you going to play in costume?

My band has a show that night, and we are discussing costumes. I thought it would be funny to go all-out and rent a really good bear costume from a theatrical shop and play in that, but I can't imagine how hot and sweaty I would be after rocking out in one of those. My wife had the idea that we should go as the Flintstones, which might be kind of funny as well.

I don't have a gig on Halloween proper, it's more like the night after. But I am going in costume. A few friends and I are doing the rouges gallery of Batman villains. I happen to be doing Two-Face. It should be fun.

My band is hitting the streets with acoustic instruments and we're going to be Tatooine themed. The guitarist, singer and I are going as jawas, our flute player is going as a hologram of princess Leia and our drummer turned djembe player is going to be a tusken raider.

I already have the robe sewed, tools and belts, I just need to figure out the eyes...

Halloween I think I'm doing the bloody doctor thing with the rest of the band. Lead is gonna be an escaped mental patient, we his staff.

Day after I have no clue, band's not going together so I dunno...

A few years ago I went as Phantom of the Opera. However, I was playing keyboards that night and it was very appropriate.

We have a Halloween gig this year, and I don't know what I'll do. I still have the Phantom costume, but it doesn't seem as appropriate for the bass player. I would LOVE to wear the full-skeleton jump suit like Entwistle used to wear, but I couldn't find one in my size (6'1", 290 lbs).

I'll check this thread over the next few days and see if anyone has a good suggestion.

Buckethead. Definitely. Got my Funeral sticker and wig. Now all I need is a raincoat and KFC bucket. Should be easy enough. But I'm not playing or anything, just hanging out with friends, but they might bring their guitars, and then we could make a jam of it. Sweet.

Highly recommend DO NOT strap yourself into any kind of furry costume..... some of them come with air blowers but ask any football mascot-they still get hot.

Not to mention you'd look funny with human hands instead of paws...... a borrowed congo player tried being a giant bunny, that lasted about 10 minutes into the first set LOL.

Masks are hard to play in if you're not used to em......face paint is best. Get the good greasepaint and set it and you'll be much happier....just don't rub your face on your sleeves (and hands off face too......specially before playing, greasepaint is hard to get off strings).
By "set" you take a makeup poof (or better, an old sock filled up with baby powder and tied closed) and gently pat baby powder over top of the makeup.....keep adding powder a little at a time until the shine is gone. Gently flick off the extra powder (usually giving it a couple of minutes lets it all soak in anyway) and viola! Non running makeup! Doesn't work with cream makeup though.

If the makeup is hard to get off, use either cold cream , baby shampoo, or mineral oil (keep it out of the eyes). Keep red makeup away from your eyes, let me tell you something in it realllllllly stings if it runs into them!

We're doing the villian thing too, although we havent finalized it yet...... last year it was three days before when we figured out our costume LOL

I have a really cool Reaper costume and a real sickle that belonged to my Grandpa, so I am set. Of course the Sickle will have to stay backstage, that could be a bummer if someone got sickled on Halloween @ my show... I think??? - Ya it would..

Playing a Halloween gig, but not dressing up....it's also our first gig with this band AND we're headlining so the last thing we want is more distractions lol

We have a gig tomorrow night. I thought about a costume just to be a smart@$$ since the club owner is all worried that no one will be out due to Halloween parties at other clubs, but wouldn't do one at his club.

Weird things happen on Halloween. Back in the day, a club band I was with was fired on Halloween night after a fight broke out during the costume judging activities in San Berdo, CA. The union rep was there collecting the 'travel dues' and wouldn't intervene in our behalf. I was ghoulishly painted and had the union rep pinned against a wall 'arguing' our case when the drummer pulled me off and said that it was a sight, me in makeup and all.

I'm going as the Dow Jones, with a stripe of red tape diagonally from right shoulder to left pant hem.

I was going to do the same but the band fell apart and I don't think the show is even happening at all anymore.

I don't have a proper show lined up for halloween, but my brother(drummer) & his wife(keys) are throwing a party, and me and at least 2 guitarists & 1 harmonica player are going to be there, so we'll probably end up doing a drunken jam session. I dont know what my brother & his wife are dressing as, but one of the guitarists & the harmonica player are going to go as Lion-O & Cheetara, and I'm probably going to do something boring like showing up in drag or dressing as Robert Smith.

Tried to convince my son's band to go as Droogs, but they're too young to have seen the film so it was met by rather blank stares all round I'm afraid
