I would not be so quick to dismiss the possibility that there might be cold-weather outdoor gig uses for them.

If you use them for driving you will get skid marks on them.....

There are plenty of fingerless gloves out there that don't look like underwear that work just fine. Sure, they are typically not form-fitting, which would be nice, but if you just try some out, you're sure to find a pair that doesn't hinder your playing. I actually picked up a pair of fingerless gloves for 3 bucks that keep my hands warm and allow me to play with my usual dexterity.

Are those the best fingerless gloves for metal?

I gave a pair of handerpants to my brother-in-law a couple of years ago. I saw them in the store and thought they were the funniest thing on earth.

I'm sure they went straight into the trash when he opened them.

I'm getting at least two - I have some "white elephant" parties to go to. Perfect!
