I would not be so quick to dismiss the possibility that there might be cold-weather outdoor gig uses for them.

There are plenty of fingerless gloves out there that don't look like underwear that work just fine. Sure, they are typically not form-fitting, which would be nice, but if you just try some out, you're sure to find a pair that doesn't hinder your playing. I actually picked up a pair of fingerless gloves for 3 bucks that keep my hands warm and allow me to play with my usual dexterity.

I gave a pair of handerpants to my brother-in-law a couple of years ago. I saw them in the store and thought they were the funniest thing on earth.

I'm sure they went straight into the trash when he opened them.
