I use to be into upright but over the last three years Iv'e been playing only electric. Went to an open jazz jam where I was the only bassist. After 2 hours my blood blister popped open while I was playin a burner. Ouch that hurt. Playing the electric even hurt the rest of the week.

I was adjusting my mike stand during set up before a gig once. I let go of the mike clip and the stand slid down and pinched my right middle finger between the two pieces of metal. It raised a blood blister almost immediately. Couldn't use my middle finger for playing and could barely hold a pick properly. Made it through the gig, but didn't practice for about a week after.

A guitar guy I played with once closed a guitar case on the pad of his finger somehow. He jerked back has hand quickly and left the skin of his fingerprint in the metal binding of his case. Did he ever jump around ! I thought I knew some profanity but he took to a whole 'nutha level !

I was dremeling and took off most of the tip of my right index finger. I got it stitched back on, and it still works good as new.

I've also broken the index and ring fingers in my right hand through completely unrelated incidents, and can bend my right pink at a 90-degree angle thanks to a fun little genetic quirk (my dad can do it, his sister can do it, his dad could do it, etc). All in all, my right hand looks pretty messed up.

When I used to play solely with a pick, I somewhow shredded all the skin off of the back of my right index finger during a show, I didn't notice it until I realized my strings were slippery from having blood all over them. My pickups still have dried blood around the base of the contacts 7 years later. It was a metal band though, so it was all good.

Right before my gig last night I was using some glue to repair a part on my car and got glue on my fingers tips so after the glue dry I try to peel it off and rip the skin off too. So I had to play with my ring and pinkie fingers only.

That actually works well in an emergency. Same with duct tape.
