Have any guitar hero people annoyed you?

A friend of my wife's came over yesterday and saw my bass. I played a little of it, and he said he thats cool but he could totally kik my butt in guitar hero. I'm like just because you get a high score in mario kart does'nt mean you can race nascar. (Not meaning I'm good at bass, but meaning the difference between video games and a real instrument.)

That's a great analogy. haha.

I'm good at my bass (well..heh, ya know) and I'm pretty good at the game. I don't play it anymore though.

Heh. He should try Rock Band. He can actually play drums on that one. It's very addicting.

Rock Band also lets you play bass. Cool but, like Guitar Hero, it's nothing like playing the real instrument. The drums, however, seem very much like playing real drums.

yes they have!
true story: in my college dorm hall i'm not allowed to play my bass quietly with the door shut(i have to drag my bass and amp all the way across campus to the music hall) but people down the hall are allowed, at any time of the day, to play guitar hero with their tvs cranked and their doors open, so i can hear it down at the other end of the hall!!!

I actually started out on Guitar Hero, then decided it would be more worth my time to play a real instrument. Hardly play it anymore since that time is used for practice, but once in a while its fun to just mindlessly wail on. I just hate people who think its just like playing the real thing.

That's good to hear that Guitar Hero inspired you to really play guitar or bass. My son is into Guitar Hero on the Wii. While it's not teaching him to play, it is giving him a really good sense of timing.

haha honestly, the second I heard about the game called guitar hero, I said "uh oh...." I knew it would spawn people who think they are rockstars with plastic controllers (thank you south park)

My sons play the game on the WII too and you're right, it does help with yoru sense of timing!

We actually scored another guitar contoller so we could play in coop mode. When you play in coop mode, one of the players can play the bass lines!

No replcement for the real thing (and no where near as much fun), but, I think it has challenged my sense of timing also.

I can't wait until they have controllers where you can mod the bridges and pups to get "your sound!"

It's all well and good with Guitar Hero players acknowledge that it's just a game and just have fun with it (I myself have all three Guitar Heroes at my apartment), but whenever they start thinking they can school us real musicians with a plastic controller it makes me wanna break the damn thing over their heads.

"Guitar Games"

When I see my guitarist playing Guitar Hero for hours while his guitars are sitting right next to him, I want to weep. Great. You've just spent a hour "mastering" Led Zeppelin by utilizing five different colored buttons. You're an idiot.

While the drum part of Rock Band looks like a "lean to play e-drums" kit, I still am boycotting it because of a lack of a bass career mode. Their Excuse? "Not enough songs feature the bass to make a career mode." GWARRRRRRRRRRRRRGH! @#&$! SO ANGRY!

After playing my bass, when I hold the guitar hero guitar, I feel like Tiny Tim with his ukulele.

I've actually been wondering for a year or so if the Guitar Hero/Rock Band success has had any kind of luck motivating new young musicians to once again pick up guitars, basses, drums, etc and learning to play...
