Heard a pretty good one...

I’m not sure if this has been posted yet, but it’s kind of hard to search for a joke. It kind of rips on bass players, but come on, if we can’t laugh at ourselves, then we’re no better than them.

So a lead guitar player shows up a little late for an audition and he says to the guy giving the audition, “I’m so sorry that I am late, but I promise, once you hear me play, you’re going to want to hire me.”
The guy giving the audition responds, “I’m really sorry, but the lead spot has already been filled.”
So the guitar player says, “Well what about rhythm? I’m really good at that too.”
The guy says, “Sorry, we already have a rhythm player, too.”
The guitar player says, “Fine…I guess, you know, if I have to, I can always play bass.”
The guy responds, “I’m really sorry man, we’ve already got a great bass player.”
Feeling quite dejected, the guitar player hangs his head and starts walking out and he mumbles to himself, “God, I am such an @$$hole!”
Hearing him, the guy says, “Wait a minute, we do need a frontman.”

How does that rip on bass players? Sounds like more of a frontman joke to me.

Well, I just figured I'd add the disclaimer. I know how a lot of people around here get with the whole guitarist saying ok, well...I suppose I can play bass.

And for your effort, you got taken to task over it. Irony.

Yeah, I know. I guess I'll just keep it to myself next time.

Well I laughed anyway. It's a good joke!

And has the inference of the cliched hierarchy of musicianship in there (lead > rhythm > bass) - we all know it's not that simple

So it's the setup for the punchline and as such is funny.

Analyzing the joke - kills the humor really!

Thanks for sharing. My joke memory is usually crap, but this one just might stick in my brain for a while.
