I've come to this conclusion after reading professionals here on the board several times has claimed that listening to music won't help you get better on the bass.

| | bassist for staind | | | | | when i listen to music, it help me on the bass. i learned totally by ear with no lessons. now when i listen to music, i can hear a bass line and if its not real complicated, i can play it immediately on the bass, all those years transposing what my ears hear into where it goes on the fretboard have turned around, now i can hear something and i already know which strings and frets to play before i pickup the bass. i would like to see the wisecrackers do this ... johnny a. staind
