Ok, funny story. I was at a local BOTB gig the other day and I got to talking to the bassist of one of the bands playing that night about his set up. He just had a squier jazz bass, he had told me he simply didn't have the money to get anything better than that. I can feel his pain there, I have very little money as well.
So he goes up and does his set, a very good set as well. Some great rock songs and his band really got the crowd going. He came back to watch the rest of the bands play. After a while another, bigger bloke walks up to us and asks if he could borrow this kids Squier J for a song. He claimed it was because his Fender P didn't really suit one of the songs they where playing. Being a very nice little dude, he complies and shows hims to the case. I add at this point that the band of the bassist who is borrowing the jazz is semi professional, not using any of the venue supplied gear.
After a little while this guy comes on stage and his band is playing and the crowd is REALLY going and the band is rocking. On the last song the bassist pulls out the Jazz and starts rocking out with that. Me and the owner couldn't really see the reason for the P not working in the song but... he was playing well so we forgave him. Suddenly, during the very big and over-theatrical outro one of the guitarists rips the jazz bass from the bassist and smashes it against the floor. We could see the bassist try feebly to stop him. I almost cried for this kid who probably didn't have enough money to buy a new one. But, it would seem redemption was on its way. I turned to make a comment to the owner of the J but he was no longer beside me.
Then from backstage, I my little bassist friend emerge from the wings, rip the guitarists fender strat from his shoulders (should have used straplocks) and place it very firmly through the speaker in his amp. There was a cry of dispair from the guitarist, tears of joy on the drummer face and a roar from the audience. My friend picked up what was left of his J and vacated the venue.
Later that night, me and him where sitting in the carpark of the venue (the J was now in the dumpster round the corner) and this kid was almost in tears. As we sit, the bassist from the other band approaches us and gets talking. Turns out the P bass he was using was his back-up and he was about to sell it, he hands it over to the poor J-bass kid exclaiming "It's on me..."
Best night ever. I sort of felt bad for the guitarist, but then he came out and abused this kid for half an hour before speeding off and being pulled over by the cops...

| | | | He broke the bassist's while keeping his own guitar intact? I hope the amp was hard enough to break the guitar too in the process. |

Even after the guitard smashed the kids bass?
It appears to me that the better part of this guitard must have ran downs his mothers leg! I would love to get my hands around that guys throat!
