Holiday Bookings

A hotel has given our band a booking offer for New Year's Eve already. We played it last N.Y. Eve, the money is good, (not great), and so's the eats.

The question is - Would you be prone to accept the offer this early, knowing there will be other opportunities coming up? Because it's a corporate hotel, it involves a contract, so there's no backing out once a commitment is made.

(Or -- are any of you guys already booked?)

Imo unless last years gig was a total disaster,Id be tempted to accept it now,rather than hope something better comes along.(My luck is so poor,if I passed on this gig Id wind up with nothing

Were not booked for New Years,but were already booked for a county fair in Aug 2002.

Book the show, almost all the venues are filled in my area already...My new band just got together recently, and we doubt we even have a shot at getting booked this late...

And another thing, you can start making plans for what you will do after the show, try a and talk your friends into going there for New Year's and it could be a big party for you.

Well, I'm not in a band....but....I would say go for it, especially if you enjoyed it last year. Sounds like good times. Doesn't seem too far in advance for booking....even if something better comes along, you know you've still got a good deal, and you already know what to expect. That's what I would do, at least....

You would think most nice places would already have booked somebody now. But a lot of them wait to see how fall business goes and then decide what to budget for holiday entertainment. With the WTC tragedy and job layoffs, I think they'll be even more careful. I know this Christmas won't be a stone gas like last year.

Once a gig is over, I'm still so amped that I'll definitely be at some other party afterwards. IME, New Year's Eve gigs are notorious for sloppy drunk chicks who think all musicians are wearing a big sign that says "Available." That was okay for a while, but then I became 30 years old.
