The Holy Ghost adjusting my volume

So I've worked with three different groups in the past three days and today was sitting in as a bassist for a church band.

I plug in and start playing, setting up the fender something or other combo leanback how I like it and crank it so I can hear myself.
As we start rehearsing I find the the tone is getting progressively crappier and I look down to see the volume knob at 9

I set it at 7.

I move it back and continue playing only to find about 30 seconds later that it is at 9 again.
After some dinking around I discovered that the vibrations of the cab were actually turning up my volume.

Needless to say I had a hard time explaining that to everyone else, but after giving them an example I fixed it by wedging a little piece of paper in there to keep it still

Anyone else ever had a weird thing like this happen?

Also, God clearly favors bass... if you believe in such a thing

HUH?

You're playing in a church band, and optionalizing belief in God??

I did so for those who don't share that belief on this board

Why stop at 9? I would have thought it would have been turned up to 11.

It couldn't have been god, he only plays with vintage Ampegs.

Well, Scripture does say that God created everything from nothing. I think there was a "little" bass happening in that gig!

Not everyone does, you know. If you put some gaffer's tape on the knob, it would create an interesting paradox. Could god turn up the volume in spite of the gaffer's tape he gave us to address situations like this?

I used a bassman 150 tilt back combo for about 5 years playing for worship services and have had a number of wacky things happen. Recently switched to a TC Electronics combo after the bassman combo recently died. I attribute the various issues to physics and also having a lot of different hands (mostly) inexperienced) on the amp.
