Hoping to actually draw a crowd tonight...

So my band has sort of carved out a role for ourselves at this local club. We're the standard "alt-country openers" when an appropriate small touring act comes through. It's cool, and I dig it, but the shows are often weeknights and have very small crowds.

Tonight we're opening for a touring bill that is similar to the usual gigs, but the buzz locally about us has built a little. And it's a Friday late show, and LOTS of friends (and friends of friends) have been helping us spread the word. So my hope is that we might have much better attendance than usual tonight. It ain't about the money for us, but we take pride in the fact that most of the crowd is there to see us at these kind of shows anyway.

My prediction, of course, may be way off. We'll see. But I'm ready to rock anyway.

yay! I miss playing shows. I have been bandless for almost a year. A good 5 months of that I have been unsuccessfully searching for one to join. I am seriously considering going solo with a looper pedal. Open mic nights here I come...

Congrats with your good turn out.

Dude i know how it is carving that niche. A group i was in did the opening slot for most of the touring "World" music type groups. Basically anything funky, and we got the bill. It was nice, we learned to cut our teeth with the best of them, and made some decent contacts.

Congrats on the good gig!
