How the hell do I cope with this

Sign in to disble this ad
For the first time ever I have ordered a bass online. I'm in new zealand and have ordered a USA p bass from ebay (saving about $700 from buying it in my country)

I feel like a 5 year old counting down to christmas... I haven't spent an hour without refreshing the ebay tracking page, and it doesn't help that the USPS tracker seems to update a day behind

I know... just put it out of my mind. I can't!! i'm googling pictures of the model, oggling the bought auction page... i'm going nuts over here

that is all, just hoping to vent/ know i'm not the only one out there

Your not the only one. I just ordered a bass online too. Granted, its a cheap SX bass, but I'm going nuts waiting for it! Hang in there, and know that others feel your pain!

I have found a good coping mechanism. Buying accessories for the bass locally, got to get it a good case, strap, strap locks, stand...

I sometimes wait 4 to 6 weeks for my gear (the heavier stuff) because I use a shipping freight service instead of air by plane. A whole lot cheaper. Video games help, and my other basses do to.

Gotta be careful about getting too antsy or you will jinx the whole thing.

I bought a loaded body last week and it arrived in very good time last saturday, but because of a favor to a friend helping him with a boat he was prepping for sale, and a federal holiday, it sat in the post office until wednesday before I had an opportunity to pick it up. It was maddening knowing it was right there and I couldn't get my hot little hands on it.

Maybe you should just go on a bender and sleep for a day or two. Then it will be there before you know it!

I'm with you, my P-Bass is scheduled to land next Friday! Guess I'll just enjoy my Jazz and play some Skyrim in the meantime.

+1 on Skyrim. Just make sure you don't take any arrows to the knee. You might never play bass again...

I feel for you, just try to keep occupied doing other things.

I had to wait almost two weeks for a very rare bass (one of approx. 200 ever made) I bought on ebay.
Customs entered the information wrong three (3!!!) times while at the border according to the UPS tracker.
I think they were playing it in the warehouse...

But it eventually got here all in one piece.
Very stressful, though.

The bass will get hauled up in Customs and held until you pay the GST and inspections fees. Tracking will say "arrived customs" or something like that. You'll get a demand letter in the mail. One time they sent the letter to the wrong address, who sent it back taking their own sweet time, until about three weeks later I got it. Extra fun times waiting on a bass when you know it's in the country.

Another time a pedal took 2 months, must have gone via Greenland or something. Did I panic? No, it always shows up eventually.

I ordered a custom bass a year ago. Still waiting and still have a long wait ahead of me. But I know it'll be awesome when it arrives.

I ordered my 2010 Precision V thru Guitar Center. I did play a demo but bought one in a box because I wanted a brand new one.

I was not disappointed.

In my case, they called me and I gave them my credit card info to cover the tax and brokerage fees.
