How my band dealt with a heckler (Vid).

Sign in to disble this ad
Last week my band was playing a show, and we were in the middle of a guitar change due to tuning/explaining to the drummer which song we were going to play (we had a fill in drummer that was mildly familiar with our music that we had given a demo 3 hours before the show, but he came through big time!). Here's how it went down.

Also, yes, if you're wondering, this is a handheld camera recording, and despite his only job being the vocal volume (no instruments were mic'd), the sound guy still didn't have our vocals loud enough.

hahaha, great stuff! A young Mr. Creosote (hint - Monty Python), can't handle his cheeseburgers or booze.

The best I ever heard, though, was Josh Homme telling off a dude who threw a beer at him in Oslo - called him a dickless 12 year old, amongst other things, hilarious!

Dig your sound!

Great job on the heckler.

Did you ever consider that your stage amps are so loud in that little place that the PA may not have enough power to get your vocals on top? It wouldn't be the first time that's happened.

Classic.

I spent 3 years in a comedy club and saw a comedian do that to a heckler, gave him the mic and let him try to tell a joke.

Of course he had nothing and the audience just let him have it - he was completely humiliated and there was nobody to blame it on because it was all him.

If his friends ever took him out again after that episode they are some of the best people on earth.

My reaction would have involved an attempted guitar flip and an "accident". Well done.

Well played sir. My way of dealing with that would be to give him another sandwich, only this time it would have been a knuckle sandwich.

+1 Turn down or start playing places with a real PA.

Yeah, we've played that place a few times, so we assumed it was good, and no one said anything about it. It could've been the camera placement, too. Nothing we can do now, but noted for next time.

Thanks all for the kind words and advice! We've got some recorded songs on our facebook if you were into it and want to check it out.
