How similar are bassists lifestyles

Sign in to disble this ad
So I got this idea from another post about bassists jobs...
What I am wondering is how alike all of our day to day lives are. One of my bass player friends in CT and I share pretty much the same life. We are both in our young 20's own homes, have girlfriends that are soon to become wifes, have two dogs, and a turtle, and pretty much play the same gear...or are always looking at the same gear without talking to each other previously.

We haven't been friends until recently due to our bands playing together often, but just wondering if anyone sees any other parrallels with other TB members...DOGS seem to a pretty consistent Medium.

I'm guessing we're as diverse as any other large population, the one major common denominator is that we're all bass players. In fact, I'd also guess our bass playing situations are probably as diverse as our general demographics are.

That's, of course, a pure guess. I've done no polls.

That's me, except it's late 30's and I don't have a turtle. I have 2 kids instead (1 is almost an adult).

I did read a humor article somewhere about the types of men's underwear chosen by guys in different careers. They said "going commando" was the usual choice of surfers and bass players.

As a surfer, bass player, and commando, I agree.

What do you call a bassist after his girlfriend breaks up with him?

HOMELESS!!!

haha j/k - that was actually a drummer joke when it was told to me

I, like most of you, work and live with my girlfriend and have 2 pets and all that. That's about where I stop being normal, though. I tend to have the personality of an enraged George Carlin without the charm.

Single, I own a dog, 2 turtles, and I don't own underwear. I'll wear long johns in the winter, otherwise, I don't see the point to them.
