True, it's not funny. War is NOT funny, or all that glorious, or any of that junk Hollywood and the spin-artists want us to believe.
It's horrible and most of the people here at TB, if not all of them, cannot even fathom what it would be like be at war with another country. And in that respect maybe that shows a bit of ignorance, and maybe we shouldn't be making jokes and helping foster ill-will towards other countries. But are we doing that? I don't believe so.
I believe the majority of everyone here would rather work this out peacefully and without bloodshed. But that isn't possible anymore - OBL, or whoever, has decided that for us.
How many times should we turn a cheeck, when is enough enough? You know OBL and the other factions of terrorism aren't going to stop.
But I'm getting WAAAY off subject here. Hey humor is different for everyone. While I don't think any of this is all that bad, I can see where some could be offended. But it really is harmless fun and a way for some to vent their frustrations.

Humour is a psychological defence mechanism used by people to defuse nervous tension - ever been nervous yourself, and made an inane joke with another person, and the two of you giggle nervously? It can be harmless, even therapeutic, for the joke teller and the joke listener, but the target of the joke may be offended - so we should all be aware of who we are joking about, and be sensitive.

OBL has already been indited for involvement in previous acts with evidence available. Had we had the outrage then as now, maybe there would have been some world support in our taking action to apprehend him years ago. Instead, there was the omnipresent anti American-Imperialism attitude, leading to lack of international cooperation.

Better late than never, but tell that to the innocent victims.

I looked at my girls all night thinking "why would anyone want to do anything to them? What did they do to anybody?" I was worried about simply breathing the air.

Just nuke who? This is the point - the hijackers have been identified as mostly Saudi Arabians nationals and the apparent leader was an Egyptian. They had never been to Afghanistan and one of them had been in the US for over 10 years.

So what's any of this got to do with Afghanistan?

No, i didn't say you implied it, and i'm sorry you took it that way. I realize I misworded it, and should have been more careful. I apologize for this.

"I could give a cold turd for anywhere else on the planet" is the typical American reaction, that people in other countries do not matter. I did not mean to say that it was you, just that your statement agreed with other people. I was being inconsiderate and stupid in my response, and I'm sorry about that. I was not supporting this view, or saying that anyone on the board supported it. I accidentally said that, because I was just reacting to the statement. Sorry about that.

My point was that there is no one to nuke (or heavily bomb with conventional and incendiary weapons, as has been the method since WWII), but that people want to destroy the whole area (of Afghanistan and other places he might be hiding) to get Osama and his terrorist groups.

The thing about the civilian men was that you said the women and children had nothing to do with the decision, and I was trying to point out that the men didn't either, by saying the reverse. Anyway, I was also saying that if men influenced the decisions of the government, women did as much as the men. I was just pointing out an often-made mistake separating women and children from men in situations like these.


well anyway,now I realize the danger in not being straightforward in my responses, and that sarcasm and implications can very easily be misinterpreted, because not everyone follows my train of thought. I would say "I'm sorry if I offended anybody" but I realize I did offend people, so I'm very sorry for that. I hope I'm not kicked off the boards.
