Guitarist in my old band (who constantly had sound and technical issues) once told me "I don't think bass is supposed to shake the house" during a song that required me to play on the B of my 5er more than normal.

I just kinda rolled my eyes, he had a knack for trying to shift blame for tonal and dynamic issues to other people when most of it was him.

my band mates never say anything, nor do i about their sound... in fact, they comment on how they love how my modded MIM Jazz and Roscoe sound great...

Not a criticism, too much respect around my band, some well thought through suggestions on occasion, which I always try since I certainly don't know everything, especially if I'm busy recording a part.

Yeah, I wasn't very clear on it in that comment but the Dead were and still are a big influence to me.
