...that refuse to share the order of the bands untill the evening itself.
If 8 bands are performing, and I want to see two, I'm forced to get there when 'the first band' (whichever band that is) starts and in the worst case I have to sit out 6 other crappy bands before I can see the bands I like. |

Not to mention most of the gigs around here are not promoted at all by the promoters and they'll book bands along the lines of Poison with a band like Unearth with a band like Metallica, then a death metal band, then some crappy punk band and finally another band along the lines of Unearth. And they wonder why people don't come out. |

| | | | I hate gigs where they tell you a setup time... and they have a large group of people seated where the stage area is and you have to sit there are wait till they finish eating, then have to scramble to set up to start at your contractually obligated start time

We push for our time slot. If a venue or event cannot tell us when we play, we pass on the gig. We have a time slot or we do not play. We were offered a few time slots at a couple of different festivals, but passed because they were terrible slots.

Why put yourself through the trouble of not knowing when you play, especially if there are that many bands on one bill?

How are you supposed to have your friends and fans there to support you or even see you play. Also, how can you have an idea of what kind of set to play? If we play early, we play a different style of set than if we are playing at 2 AM.

We did it for free, figuring we could do a short set as a "tune up gig" since we had a relatively new drummer and lead singer. We've done a lot of shows there over the years, so it's become kind of a tradition to play there once a year.
It was stupid. I was the first person to show up, waited around for about 20 minutes for someone to show up to unlock the place, and everyone else was late. Two bands ended up not even showing up. Just terrible planning and communication all around.
After the show our singer and drummer quit (they'd been planning it for a while behind our backs). Oh well, stuff happens.
