yes, as in it receives a signal, it doesn't send one out, thus its location cannot be tracked.

we had a story on the news about GPS's bein' stolen from cars. You should never leave them in your windshield and they also said, have some wipes to clean the windshield when you remove it so a thief doesn't see where suction cups was.

I always put my GPS in it's case and carry it in with me when I go in a store.

Wouldn't that be nice? A receiver with a Lo-Jack? I was thinking when I replace it wire up a heavily charged capacitor with the hot on the GPS and the ground clamp on the seats....but that's a fantasy, I would forget to de-arm the thing and fry myself.

Since I have all the goodies that came with it, (home charger, stand, USB cables) I'll replace it with the same model. I'm watching a couple used ones on evilbay right now. Who knows, one of them might be mine. If it came back to me I would have to write a book, maybe sign some movie rights....Having trouble coming up with a title....

Yeah, having your house being watched and then broken into by 5 guys 15 minutes after your wife leaves will tend to make you a little more millitant.Especially when they take irreplaceable equipment you've worked 15-20 years to aquire.

Don't worry too much,it'll happen to you..........

EDIT:Ok,you're in Sweden.Maybe it wont happen to you.But since the new thing among the criminal element here in Houston,Texas is home invasion,I think I might be a little more vigilant and try to protect my wife the best I can.

yeah, maybe the paranoia is more justified if you live in the states.
i guess i can't really relate because i've never been robed of any of my stuff.
but the guy who said that thiefs should get their hands cut of, that's a little extreme.

I agree totally.

But I do want to be prepared to defend my wife if I need to.

Yeah, God seems to have quit doing that a long, long time ago. Too bad. Is He on vacation or something? Retired from the biz? What's up?

I think the poster who mentioned that could have been referring to some middle eastern countries where that really is common punishment for thieves. I would'nt want to see that done to anyone, but I do wish we had stiffer punishment for crime in the US. In this case for example, I would like to see criminals have to "work off" the value of whatever they stole. If you steal a $300.00 GPS, then you have to pick up trash for $3.00 an hour until it's paid off. (Might make someone think twice about stealing something like a BMW for example)

Walland is a beautiful place. I usually see Walland if I'm on my way to Gatlinburg.

I used to play music with some guys up your way, I would feel sorry for anyone caught stealing from those guys! First time in my life I ever saw a machine gun fired I was with one of those guys at a "band" party.
