I just owned a guitarist

I am at school with a guitarist who is always mocking me for playing bass, and we were doing a chord exercise. He was reading the chord progression that went ilke "F, G, F, G, F, G7" and he read the last one G. I corrected him like a boss! He said "Fine, you owned me. Go to your forums and brag." That is what I am doing right now.

**** YOU GUITARIST!

Why would you want to own a guitarist? I've found their resale/trade-in value to be way over rated!

I'm confused about this whole "own" thing. I understand what they mean when they say someone got "owned" but I frequently see it written as "pwned". Is this just a common typo because the p is next to the o or is this a whole other thing?

Pwned is more gamer speak. They mean the exact same thing.

Same here

I owned one too when I told him the name of the chord he was doing (which he didn't know), and on another day during the rehearsal I had to explain how a chord is formed since I was playing the 3rd of the chord as a pedal note during a small part of the song... no need to say they were giving me "that" look when I finished

Over in the guitar and drum forums they're having a laugh over how bass players over-compensate for their inferiority complex by having to prove how much more theory they know than everyone else.

Your musicianship is not defined by knowing what an imperfect cadence is.

I feel like I'm getting owned every time I pay $25 for new strings when guitarists pay ~$7.

OTOH, it is fairly easy to know *more theory* than zero.

Spay or neuter, it's a good idea.
