I would never own a guitarist.

They depreciate so quickly I find I get a far better tax break if I lease.

And then after 36 months I can bring them back and get a new one.

pwn came about due to a typo on an old Warcraft 3 multiplayer map. It just kind of stuck.

And hasn't it progressed to "pwn'd"?

+1 nice. Not to mention you have to put up with their bitching and "always right I'm surperior" attitudes. And nicely done OP.

Those among us who use flatwound strings have the option of buying a new set only about once every 20 years or so.
We own you guys, AND all of the guitarists.

Thanks for the update on Intrawebspeak! Hey I just realized that I kinda "pwn'd" a guitarist friend of mine on FB the other day. He's a mediocre guiarist and even I can play his lame whiteboy blues licks and I'm definitely mediocre on guitar. He moved to Nashville a long time ago but hasn't really done much but jam nights and was going on about how the blues jams in Nashville are so good and when he goes to other cities they just aren't that good and aren't I fortunate to live in Nashville surrounded by all this talent, blah, blah, blah.....and a few of his other Nashville open blues jam wanker friends were chiming in their agreement.

So I said "Yeah we do have some pretty good jams in other cities besides Nashville, we just call them 'gigs' and we get paid for them."

It's a rare occasion indeed when I make the decision to rescue one of those guitarists from their forums and allow them to play gigs with me. Usually, it's only because there's no pianist available at the moment.

They can have all the laughs they want- in jazz or jazz-ish music, they're often a second choice. Bassists are not.

Having owned several guitarists in my day I can say they're not worth the hassle. First they want out, then you let them out and they want in again, then they never know whether to come in or stay out. They're always expecting you to feed them and they get hair everywhere. Sure they're fun to play with but they have so many toys that they leave everywhere, and sometimes they just get too agressive and you've got to bop them with a newspaper and tell them "No!" Not to mention they're easily distracted and chase after pussycats at the drop of a hat.

Why? You can just read it again as it is. Sounds like there's a problem. You a guitarist?

**** YOU GUITARIST!

Eww! Why would you ever want to own a guitarist? I mean, they're dirty, they're smelly, you can't housebreak them...and they bite!

Honestly, I'd much rather own a wild boar...

The last guitarist I owned ate too much and smelled. I traded him for two tacos and a Diet Mt.Dew.

Once upon a time, there was an Internet forum filled with guitarists who laughed at bassists from the comfort of their mother's basements. Few, if any, of them ever worked, but they felt safe making negative comments about bass players all the same.

Then one day, one of them stepped outside, and after the initial shock of sunlight wore off, he had his mother drive him to a local nightclub and pay their cover charges. When he went inside, he saw a piano player and became very upset, thinking that he ought to be playing instead. So he told his mom, who approached the bassist and asked him why her little boy wasn't called for the gig. The bassist replied, "Ma'am, your son's a moron, he can't read --not even charts-- and he wants to comp all over the tunes instead of waiting his turn to solo like a horn player might. I hired a pianist to comp- it's a superior instrument for the task and he hasn't gotten that thru his skull. I can't use him for much of anything until he calms down enough to learn his place in an ensemble".

So Mom returns to her chair and waves her hand in front of the boy's face to get his attention. "Moron", she says, "If you want to play with other people, you're going to have to learn to read, and you're going to have to adjust your attitude". The boy was crestfallen. "Why, Mommy? I'm a guitarist! And I have long hair! It's my right to insert myself into any musical setting I can find!" She replied "Moron, you left the basement for the first time since joining that Les Paul forum. Your hair is long because the barber won't do house calls. You have two choices- learn to adjust your attitude or return to the basement and make jokes about working musicians with other maladjusted morons like yourself"., The boy thought about it for a minute and said, "Mom, I've made up my mind. Please take me back home". So they went home and the boy returned to the basement and his cyberfriends, never again to emerge. The bassist, pianist, drummer and horn player lived happily ever after. The End.

I've owned guitarists before. The best was when I had to write a guitar solo for a song because the guitarist couldn't come up with anything that wasn't pentatonic. LEARN YOUR MODES YOU PRICKS!!!
