I just recieved the best compliment I've ever gotten. Last night.

"I hate the type of music you play but you played it extremely well"

That actually made my day. Having a fellow bass player admit he isn't into metal (hates it) but also saying he acknowledges the skill behind it
It might have also helped his band won that BOTB-night and made it directly into the finals

But my band got second place for the Semi-Finals. HELL YEAH!

Marlin @ Ulladulla to to see a punk/rock/ska night. He had a great time as did I and he is 55yo.
Moral of the story is no matter your style, you will be noticed when you play well.

That is a very nice compliment. Makes you feel good. Pat yourself on the back but don't strain yourself so you can go kick it in the semi-finals.

And good thing it is. I believe this is what seperates the musicians from the wannabe's
You don't have to like the music as long as you recognise if people are playing it well

I like to leave the backpatting to other people. (I'm my own harshest critic :P)

It was our first gig so the semi's will be our second. Let's hope our "Sod it if these other bands are way better and further along. Let's have fun and rock out" state of mind is gonna hold up in the semi's
