..in the musical way of course. We play together for 25 years now and it's still a blast!Survived a guitarist OD'ing, a singer going insane in the biblical sense of the word, various keyboarders getting lost in MIDI hell and ohter assorted atrocities.
I played with other drummers too but i think i can play with my buddy being deaf.
So here's one up to you Freddo, for the next 25 years!
cheers,
Martin |

Sorry, had to do that. Congrats! Having a good drummer (or guitarist, vocalist, keyboardist, ukulelist(?), etc.) is a good thing. |

We've only been playing together since June, and the kid is only 23 but he is the best thing that has happened to my playing in the past 5 years!!
So much so that the manager of the bar we play is like, "Dan you play so much better when Christian is on drums!". Haha!!
Everything just clicks.

I have been playing with the same drummer for 10 years. Actually, I am in two bands. One is a bluegrass band for over 30 years. (aging myself)
The other is a blues and rock band with same 5 members for 10 years. I am blessed that these are friends I have known in the music community and we all grew up together in different bands.
Now we are older in our 50's I think we are the few who survived all these years. Play couple of times a month and still lovin it.

Martin | Where's the "Like" button when you need it? Congrats, man. I have been playing with my drummer for almost 6 years now; we have ditched the rest of the band to do a drum/bass improv-jazz style thing and it truly satisfies my soul.
I hope to be lucky enough to reach the 25 year mark, as you have done. |

i gotta say, lately, I've grown into drummers. very often the drummer is the member of a band that impresses me more. I can do without a guitarist with awesome chops, but I can't live w/o a solid drummer

It is great when you know one or two.
I'm luck enough to know two (one's my brother in law).

The other side of the fence is that I played in a band with a great bass player on and off for thirty years until I moved out of town for my day job. Now that I'm back in town I'd love to gig with him again. It was like we were joined at the hips musically. As a drummer I appreciated it as much as you bass players do. (And no, Im not far enough along on the instrument to call myself a bassist yet. I'm a student of the instrument.)

I have to show some drummer love as well. We have been playing together for 11 years now. What a roller coaster! Looks like we had yet another project fall apart just yesterday. I hope this isn't the end of a great run. On the other hand. If we are able start something new this would be our 5 project. |

I never once had to turn around on stage to give him that "where are you and what the heck are you doing" look, because this guy was always right where he needed to be. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
