Ha. I've only half-jokingly said that no matter what age they are, guitarists have the musical tastes of old people.

just goes to show you what I've always said...todays "bassists" in that style of music (and if you call yourself a "bassist" that's part of the self adoring ways of today...you're a "bass player") are nothing but sh-t-y guitar players.

And another amazing example of an amazing band that is similar in this genre..Periphery. I will grow an old old man and always listen to music like this. But then again....it's not for everyone. I find music like this is almost like tattoos....they aren't for everyone. I'm also a full time tattoo artist too...lol
Periphery, the other band you posted, & the band in the OP are part of the same genre?

Well, Oasis and Metallica are both classic rock, right?

Got the same reaction from my parents in the 60's when I started to play Rock & Roll.

i don't approve of the bass player's shorts, however.

There are 125 likes and only one thumbs down which totally surprised me. To my ear it is just noise. Also, I noticed that there are not many hot chicks in the audience.
Whats up with that? Just guys jumping up on the stage and jumping back into the audience. I love most types of music but I just drew the line. Is it just me? If you are younger, do you like this music? If you are older, do you not like this music? Thanks.

Sadly this is a favorite of some of my buddies. They played here and the surrounding area a good bit. I'm pretty sure I saw them once, but I've been dragged to a lot of terrible hardcore shows because I've known people in the supporting acts. The only one I went to on my own free will was a benefit show for an old high school chum who's house burned down. At 26 I feel very old when everyone piles in my car and I blast Soft Machine or Henry Cow.

Just goes to show that anyone can buy guitars, drums, basses, amps ... or can have mommy and daddy buy 'em ... and take the stage. Pure crap. Reminds me of a CL ad I saw last year "multi-instrumentalist wanted for atonal and arrhythmic project". I replied saying, "I can play ANY musical instrument atonally and arrhythmically, give me a shot".

"Hate"? What is your definition of "hate"? What you read here are musicians responding to the crap that some people are calling music these days. I don't hate anyone ... but I'd hate to have to listen to that for more than 10 seconds.

Let me hear something melodic, harmonic, rhythmic, lyric and I'll call it music. Noise is just noise ... in this case produced by instrument owners, but it could just as well have been a jack-hammer.

You have a degree and couldn't tell what is going on ? To me it sounds and works like the dodecaphonism/serialism/atonal/minimalism music that classical composer started to experiment with during the last century.

They obviously don't know that but I feel the same vibe of chaos and experimentation.

What's to gain out of bashing music you don't enjoy?

I don't have audio at work but I'm sure it's a bad recording. The music may not translate well with a poor recording but grind, grindcore, and power violence are legit genres with huge legacies. I tend to listen to more popular grindcore bands because there are just too many to get into and I found this music to late in the game (I've missed a good 30 years of these types of bands). The more successful bands (and by successful I mean they have put out some popular albums – these people aren’t getting rich or anything) have the benefit of slick production on cd's and YouTube vids, etc.

The band may be good or bad. I don’t know but, I have heard plenty of terrible rock and blues bands on YouTube as well. I can tell you that if I could hear the video I would make my own personal judgments and keep them to myself. Never sling mud. It’s in poor taste.

Agreed.

I'm not even a big metal guy. The older I get the more I understand the difference between something being bad and not liking it. To each his own but I never make fun of someone willing to put themselves out there.
