I played my first live show (as a bassist) last night and it was SO AWESOME!

Man, what a different perspective. Bassists truly have a unique place in the live performance setting, and very important job. I wasn't entirely sure what to think about this bass thing, but man I love it! We played at this big festival out in the sticks, basically a bunch of rich young cowboys, crowd of atleast 300+. It was interesting playing outside and trying to get all our power and monitor stuff squared away but we made it work. We were well received and only had one major hiccup where we ended up repeating a verse twice...

I definitely think I am hooked though. I can't believe it took me this long to pick up a bass! Just wanted to share!

Good for you!! It is quite the rush, for sure. But (Always one of those!),be prepared to face some adversity from time to time, too. No different than any you've ran into being a cello-(ist?).

Thanks! It feels great! I am definitely well prepared for the negative crowds too... classical music is a stuffy and unforgiving place most of the time. As long as I am having fun playing though, I can't really complain! Now if only I can figure out how to deal with the drunk audience members who like to come on stage and act crazy... lol...

Congrats on your first bass gig! As far as drunk audience members go... they're just part of the scenery. Hope you have many more gigs in your future.

Cheers,
Jim

Welcome to the bottom end, we of TB know what you got a big piece of and how good it tastes! But really, your first time on stage to 300 people? Methinks some little shows didn't count as gigs eh!
