The duo was really good. I can't recall an audience so enthralled by the performers, and they seemed to genuinely enjoy the crowd's happiness.
John Paul is a great guitarist and singer, and Joy Williams has a Fantastic voice and is very pretty. Beautiful, even.
That venue is awesome. I went to This Is Hardcore there back in August and it was packed.

The last band I saw live was my brother's band, Ocean Architecture. He is way better than me at bass, and the way they play and how he writes stuff blows my mind. The venue was a cracker box, only 40 cap, but they managed to sound excellent. All the other bands on it were not very good. Stereotypical teenage metalcore bands with millions of breakdowns and no continuity.

I saw a Prince impersonator come up to our singers a few weeks ago. Had a gold suit on with huge gold sequins.

Then when he turned to walk away I saw he had the Prince assless pants.

I've been trying to unsee that for a few weeks now with little success.

I saw Charlie Hunter with Scott Amendola at the World Cafe. It was so good I stayed for both sets and still could have listened to more. I like seeing acts without a bass player, because then I'm free to just enjoy the musis instead of thinking what I would do differently.

Saw them here... that's my fat head dipping in and out of the bottom of the screen. Bass Player was phenomenal! tasty motownish goodness. Eb like Mike Watt and the same curly orange cable like Watt uses too. funny. Cool small pickups on it that I have not seen on any other.

I was going to mention this show too--saw them last month here in southern Wisconsin. Great show.

Charlie Hunter is such an interesting musician--if you listen to his CDs, given that custom 8-string guitar he plays, you'd be easily forgiven for thinking there was a bass player there. In fact, his music may have the most interesting basslines for lacking a bassist!

Trans Siberian Orchestra was my most recent show too. The in-laws picked us up tickets at the San Diego Sports Arena and told us it was a must see.

The musicianship was all tight, the performances were solid, and it made me appreciate just how under-lasered most of my band's performances are.

Oh, it also made me envious of the lack of pointiness my instrument stable has.

Probably something I wouldn't have explored on my own, but had a good time despite low blood sugar levels amongst members of our party.
