I've posted regarding books a few times. Didn't get picked on. I'm *very* careful over there. Not about to attempt to post anything regarding bass or music in general. Not yet anyway.

Somebody should go ask them how to play some "jazzy scales".
Than ask them about their "up-right" bass.

if you ask good questions, you get good answers over there.

i will say they have little tolerance for over-generalizations, which can be refreshing given some of the crap people write on forums

Theyre grumpy.
I think they prefer 'dry' humor

I don't understand the whole "upright" thing. Is it NOT "upright"?

im studying double bass in college and i have notices some snobbery among other Db'ers, then again ive seen my fair share of snobbery in the electric bass field, i think its because its typically an instrument that is not often "self taught" so i guess they only expect so called "educated" people to ask DB related questions (dumb, if someone has a question, be nice).

by the way ive never had a lesson on the electric bass but have been taking lessons on the upright in college along with my other music cources, all theory knowledge prior was self taught, when someone asks me a question, upright or elec based, i try to always be helpful.

I have been over there a few times, mostly to talk about jazz music and upright bassists that I like, such as Charles Mingus and Lee Rocker. They're friendly enough on those terms. When in Rome, and all that sort of thing...

I really tried to hang over there for over two years [I even used my real name on TB for a while do to their peer pressure], what really just bugged me was when someone would tell me I was wrong and then agree basically with me I don't have time for that BS. I still post every now and then in bows and rosin and strings but that's it.

They were really helpful though in terms of giving info on repairing and refinishing my DB, and in finding the right strings... they are about as bad about string as TBFX is on fuzz pedals...

Also, I like jazz but I don't like to play it very often so there isn't much for me to talk about over there about music other then technique, and that is one thing I will not argue about on online so I just read-only.

What finally made me drop out and I will stay dropped out [mostly] was the Ken Smith mess MK1 and MK2, where the grumpiness and infighting grew to a intolerable level for me to care anymore.
