I think that any amplifier question asked on this forum boils down to

"What is the loudest I can get this thing without blowing it up?"

The last one I asked was pretty much this. So, yeah. No argument there .

Hi.

Perhaps I look at the threads differently, or look different threads alltogether, but I don't see it being that simple.

Why is this thread not in the Amps forum?

A bit off-topic, but let's not forget all of the Ebay posts listing electrical watts instead of watts rms ratings!

Over at the strings forum, the questions are pretty much just a variation of "What strings should I use with my bass?". The stock answer should be "The next package you buy!".

Don't forget: "Can I rewire this 8 ohm cab to make it 4 ohms?"

Also: "I am extremely happy with my rig right now and wouldn't change a thing, but I am going to sell it anyway just because."

Personally, I would be happy if I could boost my old SVT to 301 watts. I just feel like it's missing that last 1 watt of oomph.

Any suggestions? Could I use stupidynium tube coiling to achieve that level of most awesome?

"I want a 1000 watt all-tube rig that can reproduce DC to 30Khz @ 135 dB, sound perfect in every venue without PA help, weigh six ounces, (because I have a bad back and a 10 ounce lifting restriction) fit in the trunk of my smart car, and I want to find it in Guitar Center for no more than $15..."

The funny thing is that a lot of old SVT's actually clock in at over 300 watts.
