we went to eat at a tex mex joint for cinco de mayo and low and behold they had a big tent sent up for a live band. well we had an hour to go before they started so we ate. when finished we went to see them play. they were almost done settin up. they had two, looked like 14/3 cord for power runnin from the buildin to the bandstand about 75-100 feet away. this powered up a keyboard, three elec. guitars and a bass not to mention mics. and lights and pedals. . i told my young un that i dont believe that is gonna work to well. about half way through the first song everything quit workin. that was a bunch of stuff to run off them extension cords that distance. poor guys. i dont know what they did the rest of the night because we left. when my young un has homework thats not finished she gets upset.

My garage band played its first gig (in 1969) on a flatbed trailer in the city park. We ran ONE 12/3 extension cord through the grass to power the following:

one - (tube) 1x15 keyboard amp & keyboard
one - (tube) 2x12 guitar amp
one - (tube) 1x15 bass amp
one - (tube) 2x10 guitar amp used for vocals
four - 150-watt spotlights

I have no idea how much juice those amps took, but it had to be at least a couple of amps each @ 120 volts. The lights took a total of 5 amps. We were probably drawing 13-17 amps total, which I guess was less than the 20-amp circuit we were plugged into, considering we played for about 3 hours with no problems. And everyone thought we were so loud!

That sucks for the band - you think someone would've regulated that power setup a little better...
