I'm a proud dad!

My 11 year old daughter has been taking guitar lessons for a couple of years from a local music store. This past week they did a week long rock camp with several of the instructors and many kids. They broke the kids up in to three bands. My daughter volunteered to play bass in her band even though she had never played one before. She has picked mine up a few times and messed around but never for more than a few minutes. Last night they had a concert with each band doing three songs. Her band did "School's Out" by Alice Cooper and "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor plus an original song they wrote. The bass line for School's Out is not that easy, especially for a beginner. She did a great job! You would have never known it was her first time playing bass. Hopefully she will have more interest in playing bass along with guitar now!

That's cool!
You must have done something right,
though there's nothing wrong with playing both guitar and bass.

You're lucky, neither of my kids is particularly interested in playing any stringed instrument at the moment.

Yeah, I think I lucked out on my kid's musical ability. One plays guitar (and now hopefully bass) and sings. The other plays piano, ukulele, guitar and sings.

Congrats! You've also gained some peace of mind knowing that your equipment should be in good hands if/when, God forbid, something happens to you.

Congrats, pal. You are so lucky. My 23-year-old son plays guitar and bass, but never wants me to teach him anything, and he never wants to play with me. Dunno why. I am a pro and have a degree in theory. He could learn a lot from me, and I'd love teaching him. But, oh well, what can I do? I love him, though.

That's quite a young lady you have there ..congrads! Mine is only 6 and she has interest in music and has played a little guitar. I can only hope she does as well as your daughter.
