Important questions!

Here are a few I'm sure you've never read before...

What's the best bass for under $300?

What's the best bass?

Why would someone pay all that money for a custom bass when they can get one that's just as good for under $300?

Doesn't anyone know that real bassists don't use picks?

Does what wood your bass is made of really matter?

How can I cut through the mix?

If I get a bass made of (insert wood choice here), will I cut through the mix better?

I'm playing fingerstyle on a no-name, all-stock bass I got off eBay for $25... I have the lows on my amp cranked all the way and the mids are cut completely... Why can't I cut through?

What is the single best overdrive/distortion pedal out there for bass that everyone will agree on?

How long til I can play like Jaco?

Jaco sucks... Don't you agree?

Fieldy rocks... Don't you agree?

I've been playing bass for five days... How much longer til I'm considered good?

I've been playing bass for five days... How much longer til I sound like Fieldy?

Will a Badass II bridge make my bass sound like (insert bassist choice here)?

Why does everyone on here talk about groove? Groove doesn't matter...

Hey, I gotta do something til 5:00 hits...

How can I cut through the mix, but not use any mids?

There, I fixed it.

"I've been playing bass for five days... How much longer til I sound like Fieldy?"

I'm pretty sure that after five days, everyone sounded like fieldy.

I think Fieldy's the bassist from Korn but I might be wrong ... last recording I heard of them, it was probably the worst bass tone I've ever heard, no depth or definition at all just non-stop downtuned slap, and boring slap at that.

As for the price difference, you will find good basses for cheap but there's a world of difference between higher-end, more expensive basses and decent but cheap ones. There's no such thing as "the best bass" though, everyone has a favorite(s) based on their preferred tone and style ... eg I love my Jazz but other people have different tastes. I disagree with the "real bassists don't use picks" issue ... if a bassist uses a pick because it's the easier option and they're too lazy to play fingerstyle that's one thing, but if they can play fingerstyle and they choose to use a pick that's their choice ... I consider Justin Chancellor and Entwistle to be real bassists, and they both use picks some of the time. About groove ... if you can't groove then why play bass, it's cool as a lead instrument but if you can't provide the harmonic/rhythmic support for the other instruments than the song can sound pretty empty. I wouldn't worry about how long it takes to get good, how good a bassist is is all a matter of opinion, and I find that I improve better if I don't worry about what people think of my playing and instead just constantly strive for improvement. Anyway sorry for the long post, that's my 2 cents

Well... It was actually a joke post. Just a way to pass the time on a Friday afternoon by posting some of the silly questions we've all seen again and again on here.

Wait, you forgot some

Do I really need to learn to read notes?

Will learning theory or scales prevent me from developing my own unique style?

Why can't my Motorhead tribute band get paid $500 for our first gig?

Here are a few I'm sure you've never read before...

What's the best bass for under $300? Ibanez GSR200 is definitely up there.

What's the best bass? Stingray are the best Ive played but I dotn play many diferent ones.

Why would someone pay all that money for a custom bass when they can get one that's just as good for under $300?
I think your missing the point.

Doesn't anyone know that real bassists don't use picks? right Lemmy isnt a real bassist. Your a moron.

Does what wood your bass is made of really matter? Diferent wood=diferent tones and durability.

How can I cut through the mix? Mids and play diferent stuff from the guitarists.

If I get a bass made of (insert wood choice here), will I cut through the mix better? I doubt it.

I'm playing fingerstyle on a no-name, all-stock bass I got off eBay for $25... I have the lows on my amp cranked all the way and the mids are cut completely... Why can't I cut through? You have crappy tone and a crappy bass.

What is the single best overdrive/distortion pedal out there for bass that everyone will agree on?
each to his own

How long til I can play like Jaco? You will never play like Jaco

Jaco sucks... Don't you agree? No

Fieldy rocks... Don't you agree?Yes

I've been playing bass for five days... How much longer til I'm considered good? when you play well eough to pleas yourself and others.

I've been playing bass for five days... How much longer til I sound like Fieldy? how many strigns are on your bass?

Will a Badass II bridge make my bass sound like (insert bassist choice here)? Not unless said bassist has the same set up.

Why does everyone on here talk about groove? You might want to think about selling your bass back to ebay.
