Instrument Domestic Abuse Shelter -- Stories of instrument abuse

Sign in to disble this ad
So, basically, me and most of my band share one huge pet peeve: when people neglect their instruments to the point of abuse, or just plain abuse them. Share your stories of similar things happening.

For instance, my friend came into school with an acoustic bass he had gotten from a pawn shop. He had it with him for a few days, and then one day he shows up to our school's guitar club with it. One of the strings has been ripped out of the bridge. In addition to this, it had been looped around the neck twice, threaded around the other strings, and tied to "get it out of the way". That poor bass looked like it was in pain.

I saw pictures of him with it earlier. 4 months later, that string is still missing.

Also, any instrument welcome.

I live in Queens NY and I gotta say the stores here (any) are demolished beyond belief! My local Worst Buy had a few cheapo guitars out. Forget about strings - necks were cracked, graffiti scratched into the paint, parts missing. sad really! The GC's around here barely have anything more than Squires out in fear of them getting destroyed - and I don't blame them . . .

Guitarist from another band, backstage at a venue took his fender tele off and litterally dropped it on the floor. when everyone (except his band) were shocked he said, 'it's how i sound so good, you don't get that vintage sound from a pristine guitar'. A bit of mojo confusion there, IMO.

it was an '03 MIM btw.
