I just started going to a music school recently, and as for who plays what, there are thirty of us. 13 guitarists (surprise surprise

), five bassists, and a random assortment of drummers, keyboards and horns.
There were some first year alumnis, and green horns (myself included, though I had been playing for a year).
I was one of the first to go up (though I was probably the only new guy to have gigging experience at all) I played one goofy kinda funky bassline to start out, then played a heavier bassline that my buddies jam to. Everyone dug it, and even the piano/drum instructor came out and played keys with us (normally our lead singer will play an accordion, and rap).
I learned something that day. Three guitarists and a drummer were trying to throw something down. The catch? One guitarist had a bass in his hand (Extended guitar solo on bass alert). They didn't get anywhere until I stepped in, as wonky as I was, and proceeded to groove as best I could. Three guitarists and a drummer can't seem to groove! I wasn't that good but even I gave them a little direction... a few of these guitarists lack direction.
I definitely respected some of the better ones though. And there was a bad-ass sax player which made everything all better.
I basically had a really kickin' time at this place and look forward to learning from them.
Anyway, cheers!
