Interesting night at the Mayhem Festival - you never know who you might meet

So tonight a good friend and I took our 14 year old sons to the Mayhem festival at the PNC Arts Center. The acts included Rob Zombie (who was great!) Lamb of God, 5 Finger Death Punch, Korn, Hatebreed, Senses Fail, Atreyu, and a bunch of others I can't remember now.

Between the Rob Zombie and Korn sets, we were walking up the stairs to the concession stands for sodas for the kids, beers for us, etc. I tend to use my arms when I'm speaking, and I hear from behind me "hey, watch what you're doing!" I turn around and it is a very cute blonde woman behind me that I nearly cold cocked. I told her I was sorry, "no harm, no foul" and she was cool about it. We strike up a conversation. Turns out she is a massage therapist. I asked her if she worked on tendinitis cases. She said sure, and gave me her card. She said follow me, and we then walk over to a nearby table where she reached into her bag, pulled out massage oil, and went to work on my arm right there. We continued our conversation. She asked how I got tendinitis, and I told her it was an occupational hazard - over 30 years of bass playing. She told me that her boyfriend was a bassist, too. Further in the conversation, she said she was here from Alabama. I asked what the hell she was doing in NJ. She said it was because of her boyfriend's band. I thought "well, that's dedication!" Turns out her boyfriend is J.D. Deservio of the Black Label Society and Ozzy Ozbourne, and she was there because he wanted her to see Rob Zombie. Of course they were in the VIP section!

So I didn't get to hang with JD, but his girlfriend Kelly has an incredibly strong pair of hands and is very sweet to boot. A pretty cool night!

It's pretty cool when stuff like that happens. One of my friends was backstage at a Rancid gig and the singer Tim Armstrong introduces him to a girl called Alicia or something. He found her a bit dull and walked off to speak to someone else. A few day's later he got an email from the girl saying "You didn't realize that I'm the singer Pink did you?".

I don't think he really cared about Pink though to be honest, maybe he did realize and couldn't care less!
