Intro song?

So when doing band introductions often each member will play a short lick from a well known song. Any fellow bassist do this? If so what song do you play?

Personally I think it's lame when I see bands do that. Nobody cares about the band members names. Less talk, more music.

I've done the line from Jungle Boogie and Sir Duke but usually, I'll just solo a bit.

I wish that (being a musician) I could disagree with this. However, I have always thought this was silly to do. As a small act (meaning that you don't have a following large enough to threaten a bar's occupancy limit at any given show), the best way to get the names of the band members is just to be proactive and talk to people in the bar or venue.

I think it depends on the situation really. Bigger bands don't need introductions of course.

We don't normally do introductions, but whe its a bigger show, our singer introduces each member of the band on one of our last songs of the night, when were are just repeating the intro to one of our songs. Similar to what Zeppelin did here.

I usually play the bass solo from "Caught in a Mosh"
I think it's pretty cool and it gives me 15 seconds of fame.

I think it's cool to have a set bookend song, like a 40-60sec thing at the beginning and end of sets, where everyone has a bit of space to do their thing when they're introduced and the rest of the band holds it together. I think it's a professional thing to do, but showmanship is a bit like customer service these days.

We don't do introductions as such, however I do get an introduction from the singer when I take over the singing duties on a couple of songs. Don't really see much point in it otherwise.
