John Myung said ...

"There's a bass solo in the song Metropolis where I do ... ... ... a bass solo"

Tappy tappy tappy. It's not that hard really but it is showy.

And it worked very well in the song too.

But yes, John did say that. You can find it in his "Progressive Bass Concepts" video.

I can never tell if he enjoys what he does. In the recent DVD where they were shopping around for a new drummer he just had an air that said he didn't want to be there and could care less. Strange...

I think he has the Neil Peart thing of his shy reservedness comes across as snobby smugness.

The funniest clip I've seen of JM is from their first video tape (yeah I said tape) where they are in Japan and he's in a store trying on a kimono and says:

" ... I don't know..... it feels kinda spooky"

I think that was his only comment in the whole thing. There is a sense of humor in that guy but yes he is a very quiet individual.

That may be, but even as an unapologetic Rush fan myself I feel Peart is highly insecure, pretentious and aloof. His writings of late have become more and more cynical to anything apart from the touch/feel reality of his own kitchen table - even more so than his younger days. Perhaps the defiance of mortality has begun to set in, no?

The funniest quote by Myung is just before the infamous on stage tackle of James LaBrie, he says to the Tech by his rig...."Watch this" runs to mid stage and tackles James LaBrie .... somebody challenged him to do it.

Dared him with a couple thousand, I think. Nobody thought he'd do it.
