Just got back from gig

Tonight was our Halloween punk rock party. We were the first band to play. We all wore costumes, I just did some ghoulish makeup cause I hate masks and couldn't think of anything. We played our set and had an ok crowd. It was a little early, so there wasn't a full house yet. The crowd that was there really dug our show and we all got multiple compliments after the show. I gave out a bunch of stickers and had people asking when we were playing again (next Friday!) We had a nice mosh pit going during a few songs.

The only bad part of the night was after we played. There were a few girls there w/ 2 guys. 1 of the guys was really drunk, like already smashed before we even played. The girls were pretty cool and were one of the ones asking about when we were playing again. One in particular had been to our previous show and got a CD. Anyway, I was standing next to their group listening to another band. I don't know what happened, but the really drunk guy pushed one of the girls pretty hard. I will not stand for a man to hit or lay his hands on a woman like that. I grabbed him and pinned him up against the wall and was telling him he should never push a woman like that. The singer and drummer from my band pulled me off of him and his friends grabbed him and drug him out of there. Some people have no manners these days!

I'd say that was a pretty respectable thing for you to do. I would have gotten upset and not done anything since I'm a pansy :'( Good job.

Never grab a guy and threaten to kick his butt if your halloween costume is Pee wee Herman.

My girl was waiting for me at home, so no. I was wishing I had my camera with me cause there was a LOT of material for the Chicks at Shows thread.

I'm all for chivalry and such but the problems with scenarios like this- 1) YOU get busted for assaulting the guy. 2) The girl you're supposed to be defending starts whacking YOU on the head with her shoe and telling you to leave her poor man alone.

+1!

Assault will get you all kinds of legal bull$#^t. Unless you have more witnesses...

And, while you're zoomed in on the guy, she blindsides you, as above. Or one of the other dudes they're with does, with something speedier and deadlier than a shoe. Then you've started a bar brawl. While these CAN be exciting, stuff may get broken. Like instruments, furniture, YOU. Be very careful, and watch their hands!

A rather brutish form of chivalry, but chivalry just the same

As far as all the bad things that could have happened, it's easy to analyze after the fact. None of that went through my head at that time though. I was raised as a southern gentleman and if you see something like that, you stop it instantly.

It wasn't her boyfriend, it was a friend of one of her friends. She sent me a message through our website thanking me for standing up for her and stopping him from hurting her. As far as legal ramifications, I stopped an assault. For him to press charges, he'd be admitting he was committing the same offense. I had at least 4 witnesses with me.

Good job! In my opinion you did the right thing. No guy should lay their hands on a girl like that.
