Yeah, no kid would try that at home. But at gigs, oh yeah, they'll do it.

Did a gig with this guitarist last week, he told me he snapped his old Les Paul's neck doing exectly the same thing.

I honestly think the worst part was trying to play it off. There is no way to look cool when you have to glue your bass back togather.

I did something like this, but it was throwing it behind me the opposite way... except in my case the strap snapped in half from the force...

... in which case mine flew about 15-20 feet behind me on the stage.

Duct tape saved the rest of the set, and only a couple scuffs!

Those who can play the bass, do. Those who can't throw them around the stage. Stupid, juvenile theatrics.

It's usually the screw that simply strips out of the body when attempting this, straplocks or not... especially if the body wood is on the softer side.

For some reason, I just feel bad for the guy in that video. Not so much for this one

every time I see that video I get a big smile on my face, its the point where he realises he's made a fool of himself, and just turns around and walks away, ...I'm assuming he's gone to get his bass, but it's possible he's just gone home... (Taxi for the bassist)

not seen the Atreyu vid before, but you get the same thing, he tries to play it off for a minute, then you can actually see him realise what he's done, his shoulders drop, and he sets of to retrieve his bass, classic!

maybe throwing basses over your shoulder is like throwing salt- you just have to hope for more good luck for the guys behind you on stage
Nothing like a ten pound 34 inch missle launched backwards.
That vid is an instant classic
