My own personal fumble - Manford Mann's Blinded By The Light has the line "...revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night...", but for years all I heard was "...wrapped up like a douche..." until it was clarified for me. The song still makes no sense to me, but at least that bit's been cleared up...

Did y'all know that Springsteen actually wrote that?

I think deuce = car with only two doors. As in "deuce coupe".

The 'deuce' reference is almost assuredly a '32 Ford Model B, which is one of the classic street rods. One was prominently featured in American Grafitti, John Milner's yellow deuce; the Beach Boys also sang about one on the Little Deuce Coupe album. And yeah, the 'deuce' bit does refer to the car having only two doors.

For some weirdo reason, I never heard 'deuce' in the song until someone else pointed it out.

Correct, but I was always told deuce is from it being a '32, not the door count.

Hmmmm, what you say makes sense since "coupe" already refers to only two doors. Guess I learned something here.

I remember overhearing some guys arguing about the lyrics to an AC-DC song. One said "No, man, it's 'Dirty Jeans, Thunder Cheeks'".

Actually, this is a Bloodhound Gang song. While it is a parody of "Another brick in the wall", they are in fact, the correct lyrics.

I posted this in the other thread someone linked to, but:

"Whoa-oh-oh, it's my dick!"

(As opposed to "Whoa-oh-oh, it's magic")

I've heard that too, but I've also heard 'deuce coupe' describing anything from a '32 to a '34/5 Ford Model B coupe. Then again, a lot of people describe most any mid-fifties Chevy Bel Air as a '57...maybe its become a generic rodder's term now.

P.S.
Most of you young bucks may not know this tune. Here's a flashback in time for you veterans that's grinded it out in bars for years.
"Powder Finger" is one of my favorite Neil Young songs of all time; and it's fun to play. Of course, the club owner didn't have the title or lyrics confused. You just never heard of it at the time. Great song though...

According to a biography I read, Jimi actually sang these lyrics at gigs when he got bored.
