Last Nights Gig

Long Post:
Now that I have recovered from last nights gig, I have to write about it.
The gig was an annual gig that my school holds, being held in a field shed its known for extremly bad accoustics and terrible mixes, and massive amounts of stage volume. This year I decided I would take both my heads, and run the preamp of my ampeg into the power section of the marshall because it goes 10 times louder and down to 2 ohms.

During sound check, my tone sounded like a$$ and I was pushing my amp as far as I wanted to take it, as I don't want to blow any speakers.

Come time for the accual show, and out the front has the best sound there has ever been in this shed, and that was just the first band, so after 4 more bands of tweaking the eq and mix, it was time for my band to hit the stage (we were headliners). As I was still worried about stage volume I asked one of the other bassists if I could use his eden 410xlt and an ev 115 cab, with some upgraded speaker in it. After hooking everything up I was then running 2 410's and a 115 cab, so I was happily standing in front of a wall of bass (it was stacked side by side with the 410 and 15 stacked next to my 410 and my rack).

So I turned on, standing in front of it all and my chest got pounded in, thats the last time I turn on before checking the master. I was in love with my tone the whole set. We also had the crowd going the best out of all the bands there, even though we were the heaviest out of everyone. As soon as we finished a LOT of people came up to us telling us how good we sounded, and more importantly how good the bass sounded

I'm happy at my last ever school gig (I'm graduating this year) I played well and had an amazing sound, and all it took was a wall of speakers.

I wonder if every band says they're the "best out of all the bands there" whenever they share gigs?

Yay for graduating this year, i can't take any more of school. How did the 410xlt sound on its own and in the mix? i'm only asking as i have the opportunity to buy one but i'm unsure about tone, cheers.

"I wonder if every band says they're the "best out of all the bands there" whenever they share gigs?"

a lot of times i think we are the best band on the bill (but we work hard & have everything worked out nicely) but we have defintily been blown away by some amazing bands & i will always admit it. you have to be a real jerk not to.

The Eden was what i was hearing the most, because it was the highest. It sounded really punchy, mids weren't too harsh, just right accually, tight bottom end, handled my B easily. I would definately consider buying one. Or getting a 210 xlt and a 21xst rig.

the reason I added that in was because most of the time we aren't. There was another band that on the bill that we play with all the time, playing with them tonight, and tomorrow night and they are usually really good. But they just weren't that great, and from hearing a lot of feedback from different people, not many people enjoyed them at all.
