So, my band is scheduled to play a set at a town festival in the city I live. We thought it would be other bands and it would be a normal, enjoyable gig. Turns out before us is something called "iSing" and after us is "The Flying Dragon's Children Center". Should be interesting.

Are you going to play Jazz Odyssey in front of a festival crowd?

Ah, the puppet show scenario. Yes, I have had that happen to us. We were the headliner for a large festival and the person booking the entertainment thought it would be a great idea to have a puppet show perform between the bands.

Mind you, all of the entertainment was to take place on the same stage and she thought it would be no problem to have them set up and perform while we were trying to set up. Not a good idea at all.

Anyways, it was decided after I said that we can't share the same stage at the same time to have the puppet show set up and perform on the dancefloor in front of the stage and they agreed. Several problems occured. There was only parking for 2 or 3 vehicles and we could not all park and unload, other festival committee members did not like the setup, the puppet show people did not like the setup, we were setting up behind the puppet show in front of the entire audience while they were performing and that looked unprofessional as well as distracted from their show, and we could not do a soundcheck until they were done.

However, the kids loved the puppet show and we started right on time; so, it all worked out in the end but I don't want that to happen again.
