Cool An On-line gig! New Video Posted, take a look.

My band ( http://www.myspace.com/signalx )is playing a gig tonight at a cool pub-type venue in my city.

It usually gets a good crowd, sound is great there etc etc.

The cool thing about this gig is that it is being streamed live on-line. Sometimes its hard to get people to attend with the late hour of many gigs (are gigs getting later and later these days??) what with having kids or having to work the next day etc etc.

So this online thing might be a cool way to encourage people to watch live music, and maybe make a big effort to come along next time!

Anyone else ever done such a thing?

I wonder why more venues don't do the same. At least on some nights anyway.

The link is here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/luv-ya-tv

Hope that some of my fellow TBers can watch - we are on at about 11pm EST (Sydney Australia Time) which is 6am in Seattle, 9am NYC, 2pm in London.

PM me and I'll dedicate you a song!

I guess it's probably due to

1) Troublesome to set up
2) Not everyone has a decent streaming speed, and well a large part of the live gig is actually being there? In which case, streaming the live is just like watching it on youtube.

Here's the gig:

What do you think?

On-stage the bass was just pure murk - the sound guy was putting way too much guitar and bass through the monitors.

Very nice. My first gig of the new season is Satuday the 25th, as part of a radio show, and will also be streamed live online.

On one hand it would be nice to record your gigs to make YouTube and promo videos however its getting harder and harder to consistently draw good crowds in this economy. I would not want to give our fans an excuse to sit home and watch us instead of coming to the gig. My recommendation on the video I just watched would be to get some hot chicks or a crowd dancing in front of the band. If you have to - get some band ringers such as wives and girlfriends dancing or at least rocking out in front of the band. The folks at home will see a rockin band and bunch of hot chicks hanging out and will come on out next time.
