Funny--but totally untrue. I mean the part where he's unemployed and has his hat out.

Even mediocre bass players get gigs.

Like the article in Unwikipedia says--the reasons to play bass:
1. No one else wants to.
2. You get gigs.

Way back when I was young I asked an adult I respected what he thought about me learning bass. He said it was a great idea. He said a good bass player will always have a job, because the world is full of mediocre guitar players and violinists.

Now, if the guy in the cartoon was the worlds best bassoon player....
