A beginning bass player started to take lessons, so the first week his teacher told him to practice and learn all the notes on the E string, which he did. The next week, his teacher told him to practice and learn all the notes on the A string, which he did. Before the third lesson, the student called the teacher and said "I won't be needing to take lessons anymore." The teacher asked "Why not? You've only been at it two weeks, and you've only learned two strings!" The student said "Because I got a gig already! I'm playing with a metal band." |

The joke rings rather true though.

Ive heard a joke like that, a little more in depth though and it didn't have the tag line as "metal". Still funny.

| | | | That is the true thing about metal, and some other genres. The entry level point, talent wise, is very low. However, guys like Stefan Fimmers, Felipe Andreoli, Mike LePond, and Shawn Kasack prove that the sky is the same limit to metal bassists as it is to bassists in funk, jazz, fusion or whatever other "prestigious" genre there is. |
