making a win from an epic FAIL

just read a post that got me thinkin of some of the ridiculous situations some of my ex bands would often find themselves in yet somehow we'd always manage to salvage something from the night and where other bands would call it a day and go home we've stuck with it and buried ourselves deeper in the s**t but still emerged out the bottom smelling slightly of roses

for example my car once died on the way to a gig in birmingham (england)
in the middle of winter on a snow covered hill on some god forsaken B road in the middle of nowhere!
the rythm guitarist and drummer carried on without us claiming they'd send help when they got to the venue (but thought it would be funnier to switch there phones off)
i rang the AA for a breakdown truck however as the roads were very snowy they informed us it would be a long time before they reached us
then whilst looking for food in the back of the car me, the singer and the lead player found a big poletheyne sheet and decided it would be a good idea to wrap it round ourselves like a blanket and slide down the hill we were on like a bobsleigh team in a duvet
it was possibly one of the most fun things ive done for a while especially when we hit a ridge and the singer was catapulted 6 feet infront of us landing just in time to have us run him over again lol
we carried this on for hours and had immense fun doing so and even started setting time trials
anyway the AA turned up and towed my car and we ended up getting a taxi back into town where we compared bumps and bruises in the pub whilst getting very drunk and making pathetic attemps to chat up the local ladyfolk
meanwhile the rythm player and drummer got stranded in birminham in the snow and had to share a nice romantic night together in a car

apparently the gig was a "disaster" but 3 of us had a great time

anyone else had a gig gone bad that was redeemed slightly?

Not my band, but years ago I saw a funk showcase, and when the second band went on, the guitarist was obviously pretty hammered. As he started to increasingly blow chords and miss changes, the drummer was increasingly becoming angry. He was yelling at the guitarist loud enough to be heard over the music and eventually threw a drumstick at him, which hit him point first in the neck.

Enraged, the guitarist charged at the drumkit, but was yanked back by his own too-short cable, stumbled backwards and fell onto the stage smashing his own drink with his face. As he stood, blood was running down his face and head from cuts from the glass and at this point, the drummer had come right through his kit at the guitarist. As they were scuffling and there was no music or sound, there was an almost eerie silence in the room as we kinda were wondering what would happen next.

I remember seeing security heading for the stage, and then the redeeming moment occurred. The singer calmly said into the mic, "so, it turns out we're actually a punk band after all", and after a moment, the whole room erupted into laughter. They left the stage and the night carried on, but I remember thinking highly of them despite their antics...
