maybe it was all for the best?

so a few months ago a fair amount of my bass stuff got stolen (my main bass, all my effects...). I was pretty disappointed, to say the least. Definitely moped about for a few weeks. But I rebuilt my collection a bit, switched out my amp head, and now I find myself completely content with my sound and I feel GAS free. So even though it sucked, maybe having all my stuff stolen worked out for the best?

My signal chain is my '95 ATK305-> VT Bass ->English Muff'n -> Boss CEB-3 -> Mesa M-2000 (GK Neo 212&112). I really love the tones I can get; anywhere from a nice fat tube sound to an ubersmoove compressed funky bass [dual preamps is pretty cool] My effects give me either a nice power tubeish distortion, a brutal fuzz and a little chorus here and there. That's all the effects that I really need at the moment. I will probably buy a delay/looper a la Akai Headrush or EHX SMMH at some point in the future. But I have no need at the moment, and that keeps my wallet fuller.

So I can hit all the tones I could possibly want without having to switch equipment ever- I love having so many tones instantly available. I couldn't be happier with my rig. Partly thanks to some crackhead who broke into my car. Partly thanks to having a steady job where i can afford to rebuild over a few months.

Does anyone else have stories about unfortunate events/thefts/breakages that panned out better in the end? please share!

What was actually stolen ? I am lucky enough to only have the odd cable stolen, I can imagine how it feels

my old bass (also a 90's ATK305), my boss gt6b and a few other pedals and their respective cases and cables. I had just gotten a hard case for that bass since I wanted to protect it as I thought I was going to have it for a long time...

but like i said, after I gradually replaced everything, I find I am much happier with my sound and everything. I used the opportunity to improve on the things I learned with my earlier gear, like what effects and sounds i really like/use and all that.
