Wow. Played last night in a corrugated steel barn. It was a private Halloween party, good paying (for us) but what an interesting sound we discovered!

Everything bounced off everything. I've got to give our soundman (Dave - worth his weight in gold to us) credit, he actually made it sound decent.

Any stories of the roughest venue you've had to play for sound?

A place in Pittsburgh called "Garfield artworks" it's an art gallery. The place is a tunnel, we stuck around and listened to a few of the bands all we could hear was the snare bouncing off all the walls and a bunch of reverberated noise. Luckily, this was near the end of the tour and some of the band members were fighting about stuff so we ended up bailing. We would have played for 3 people anyways. I felt bad about bailing, but they really should not have shows there.

Oh, the dreaded metal barn. Done my share of those. The worst is in the winter.

Also played an empty pharmacy (huge, empty room with plaster walls and high ceilings and, oh yes, huge glass windows!). This was with a guitarist that could only play if his volume was on 11 no matter what size the venue.

My worst gigs involved the size of the venue, rather than the acoustics (although I've played some places where I thought I was tone deaf, till others spoke up about not being able to hear what was going on.

There was this tiny bas in Fells Point (Baltimore, Md) that had a tiny little stage where we had to cram a 5 piece (including a drummer with a 13 piece kit and a lead guitarist with a Roland Warhead 2x4x15 stack!!). When the mosh pit got going, people kept knocking monitors over on us and pieces of table and chairs kept making their way toward the stage. That was a fun gig, though. Dangerous, but fun.
