As you probably all know.. Windows XP had a bass as one of the few default user images available with the operating system.
Check out Windows Vista's user images...
Coincidence? I think not!
My guess is that someone in microsoft is a bass player. From the number of people who play guitar compared to bass if they were going to put an electric guitar/bass guitar as a user image just for a music theme for an image then surely an electric guitar would have made sense to use as an image rather than a bass because less people play bass. Seems someone is feeling the groove in microsoft.

Maybe Bill Gates likes to slap the funky broom from time to time ? |

What would really impress me would be a Ritter as an icon! |

For the Vista system sounds they got Robert Fripp to record it, no guitarist would ever choose Robert Fripp!!!! Could you imagine Steve Via or Stevie Ray doing the startup and shutdown sounds?!?!?!

It also eats a lot more ressources than XP.
There are a few added gizmos.
Maybe they did something really good in the guts of the system that helps developers and all but as far as I'm concerned, it brings nothing interesting. |

Vista IS a resource hog, but if you have the hardware to run it, it is pretty nice. Takes a little "gettin' usta"...things aren't where my fingers think they are, but it is pretty powerful. I also run Office 2007 on it... |

no offence, but the fanboy stuff gets a little old.
