I use them if I have to play late, and I didn't get my nap. (Have to get up by 5:30 a.m. to get the kiddo on the bus, donchaknow.)
The extra-strength ones saved my butt once. We had a gig on Friday night, late. Then I had to get up, cook for a benefit, help set up the food, help serve...and play a set. Twice. All on three hours of sleep. 105F outdoors, and we had a HUGE barbeque pit, so it was really hot. The venue's a/c died.
If not for those little shots, I would never have made it. I ate really well, and had one in the morning, and another in the evening. Then went home and slept like the dead. LOL!

Cherie | Yep, I'll vouch for those little 5 hour energy shots too. They really heighten my awareness and I seem to be more creative when I take them.

Known in norway as "karsk" | Known in Kansas as "The Evil Monk"...more caffeine per ounce than Red Bull, but 46 Proof...if I want to play fast bass lines...it's all Monk.
If I want more groove, then it's single malt scotch...with some Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout...

Pepsi when eating fast food!
Hot chocolate late night!
And for alcohol, i prefer ole Canadian whiskey! Jack Daniels cost too much here and it don't taste as good as Canadian Club whiskey!!!! |

Two Miller Lites, two shots-o-Jack, and two big glasses of water or iced tea...that's my usual gig routine in a full bar.
Had a good giggle one night, waiting for the rest of the band to show up. I'd just finished my cheeseburger when I noticed a group of men across from me at the bar. Nicely dressed, starched shirts...good-looking guys my age.
They were getting hammered on all the chick drinks. Every frakkin' blue, pink, and yellow sweet thing the bar could make. Slo gin fizz. Cosmos. Appletinis. Things I wouldn't be caught dead drinking.
So I take a long look at them, give the bartender a wink (she knows me and shares my tastes in liquor), and in a perfect, slightly raspy, Texas Woman drawl that carried just right..."Gimme a shot-o-Jack, sugar, with a beer back."
Those men blinked and got all big-eyed like a row of little hoot-owls! I think I scared them just a little bit.
Cherie | Cheers!

Or if you want a little more mileage and some chill, a decent blended scotch over ice (Dewars is extremely dependable) ... |
