I just used duct tape to tape my set lists down at an outdoor gig tonight.

Besides, it's the handyman's secret weapon.

Duct tape is important. It's the "handymans secret weapon". I have to ask what does it have to do with bass playing?

Its duct tape. It has everything to do with everything. I even used it as a strap when I forgot mine once.

And a half or better roll makes a great cup holder on your cab!

It's all well and good having duct tape. However, I would imagine the first rule is always bring your bass to a gig.

I may be wrong though...

We disagree. The important lesson is Gaffer's tape does everything you wish duct tape could do.

Find a Highland 2 In. X 180 Ft. Gaffer's Tape - 6910 at The Home Depot

Duct tape is a waste of $$.

note the duct tape hanging from his tom mounts.

i've seen him live probably 6-7 times. always noticed the duct tape in that exact spot.

i guess thats something he's learned after doing 200+ shows a year for 18 years.

+1

I've used gaff tape for everything from car repairs to shortening pants - it's always the right tool for the job.

+1 to Gaff Tape.
But Im sure if you forget your bass, a simple solution can be made from duct or gaff tape. I dig the tone on this one.

And, it's actually "duck" tape, not "duct" tape.

I think Duck Tape is a brand of duct tape.

Also I though the 3 1 rule was don'r hook up with the singer ... maybe that's #2 :P

I might be wrong on this.. but I think that it is duct, but the most known brand is Duck. Its called a "genericized trademark."

Its like with a "Q-Tip", the product is not actually called Q-Tips, they are cotton swabs, Q-Tip is the brand.

Same goes for:
Roller Blades (company) products are In Line Skates.
Kleenex (company) products are tissues
Band Aid (company) products are Adhesive Bandages

I'm going to guess that I've played close to 2000 shows in my life. I never brought any duct tape, nor gaffers tape, and never needed it. What am I missing, and what do you all feel you need it for?

+1! Gaffer's Tape is a must-have, at least in my book.

Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not....
